Symposium - Advancing Equity in Palliative Care: Learning from Culturally Responsive Practice and Responses to Financial Hardship

This session aims to:

  1. Explore the context of increasing palliative care inequities within a globalised world, with a focus on cultural diversity and financial hardship.

  2. Introduce the Respect–Trust–Equity (RTE) model, developed to support inclusive recruitment in palliative care research.

  3. Explore how the principles underpinning the RTE model can be applied broadly to palliative care practice and research.

Anticipated outcomes: Participants will develop an understanding of the RTE model and its practical application across palliative care research and practice. They will identify opportunities to strengthen culturally responsive, trauma-informed and financially sensitive approaches within their own settings and leave with practical strategies for building trust and advancing equity.
